The High Commission of the Republic of Cyprus in the United Kingdom is the largest bilateral diplomatic mission of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Cyprus. Based in London and led by High Commissioner Kyriacos Kouros, its core mandate is to promote and enhance Cyprus’ political, economic and strategic bilateral relations with the United Kingdom.
The High Commission represents the Republic of Cyprus across the full spectrum of bilateral cooperation and serves as the principal interlocutor with the Government of the United Kingdom, the Houses of Commons and Lords, the business and academic communities, and civil society. It also represents Cyprus in international organisations based in London, including the Commonwealth and the International Maritime Organization (IMO), where Cyprus maintains an active and substantive role as one of the world’s leading maritime flag states.
Through its Consulate General, the High Commission provides an extensive range of consular services and support to Cypriot nationals residing, working, studying or travelling in the United Kingdom. It also offers guidance to individuals and businesses wishing to travel to Cyprus or seeking to develop partnerships and ties with the country.
Particular emphasis is placed on direct engagement with the vibrant and dynamic Cypriot diaspora in the United Kingdom —one of the most established and historically significant Cypriot communities abroad. The High Commission actively supports the community through cultural, educational and civic initiatives, reinforcing its vital role in preserving Cypriot identity and in strengthening bilateral bonds.
The High Commission’s structure includes specialised sections: Political, Defence, Maritime, Trade, Education and Culture, Press and Media, as well as the Cyprus Tourism Office. Each contributes to the mission’s strategic objectives and to advancing Cyprus’s national priorities in the United Kingdom.
