Announcement by the Deputy Ministry of Shipping on the occasion of the International Day of the Seafarer
From:
On the occasion of the International Day of the Seafarer, which is celebrated every year on June 25, the Shipping Deputy Ministry takes this opportunity to express its gratitude to seafarers worldwide and to thank them for their contribution to the global shipping industry.
Since 2011, following the initiative of the International Maritime Organization (IMO), the Day of the Seafarer is celebrated to honour seafarers worldwide for their enduring roles in shipping, recognising the unique contribution made by seafarers from all over the world to international seaborne trade, the world economy, and civil society as a whole.
For 2024, the campaign of the International Maritime Organization looks at the seafarer’s contribution to making the maritime sector a safer workplace.
Within the framework of the actions taken to promote the International Day of the Seafarer, representatives from the Shipping Deputy Ministry delivered yesterday, June 25th 2024, gifts to seafarers employed on ships visiting the port of Limassol, as a token of the appreciation and gratitude of the Cyprus Government to seafarers.
