Application for the approval of a license for production or distribution of animal germinal products

Description of procedure

In order to operate a germinal product establishment, one needs tο apply and obtain a license by the Veterinary Services of the Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment. Τhe license is mandatory for those involved in the production or distribution of animal germinal products. The applicant is informed regarding the approval decision within 3 months from the date that the application form was duly submitted.

The application for the license approval can be submitted by email to the Veterinary Services: 

An inspection is carried out at the establishment in order to ensure that the relative requirements of each license category are satisfied according to the Regulations. Α unique approval number of the germinal product establishment is issued during the final approval process. The license is valid for one year.

The fees for the approval and renewal of each license category are listed below:

Bovine Semen Storage Center:  €119,60

Ovine and Caprine Semen Storage Center: €119,60

Bovine Embryo Storage Center: €119,60

Porcine Semen Collection Center: €119,60

Ovine and Caprine Semen Collection Center: €120,00

Dog Semen Freezing and Storage Centre: €120,00
