Written statement by the President of the Republic of Cyprus, Mr Nikos Christodoulides, 4 August 2025

In fulfilling the promise I made to the people of Cyprus, and in the spirit of transparency and accountability, I am releasing to the public the reports submitted to me by the competent Services regarding the devastating wildfire in the Lemesos District.

Following a formal request to the Government of the United States of America (USA), I have sought the assistance of the relevant US authorities in investigating and assessing the management of the recent wildfires.

The US Government responded positively to my request and is, as an initial step, immediately dispatching a ten-member team of experts to Cyprus. This team brings expertise and international experience in investigating similar disasters, both in the USA and globally.

Upon completion of their mission, they will submit a detailed report to me.
