The President of the Republic received the Personal Envoy of the UN Secretary-General on Cyprus

The President of the Republic, Mr Nikos Christodoulides, received today, at the Presidential Palace, the Personal Envoy of the United Nations (UN) Secretary-General on Cyprus, Ms María Angela Holguín Cuéllar.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr Constantinos Kombos, the Government Spokesman, Mr Konstantinos Letymbiotis, the Director of the President’s Press Office, Mr Victor Papadopoulos, the Deputy Director of the President’s Diplomatic Office, Mr Doros Venezis, and other officials also attended the meeting.
Afterwards, the President of the Republic and Ms Holguín had a tête-à-tête meeting.
Following the meeting, Ms Holguín told journalists, inter alia, that it was her first day of meeting with the leaders on her first trip to the island since the Secretary-General asked her to be the personal envoy, to see if there is common ground for the resumption of the process.
She added that she was excited, noting that she comes from a country where there had been confict and she was part of the team which achieved the peace agreement.
“I think I can collaborate and do all my best so that there is a good result for Cyprus,” stated Ms Holguín.
Lastly, she mentioned that the less she said, the more she could work.
