The President of the Republic of Cyprus will visit Helsinki

Today, the President of the Republic of Cyprus, Mr Nikos Christodoulides, will travel from London to Helsinki, where he will pay a working visit on 22 and 23 May 2025, upon invitation of the President of the Republic of Finland, Mr Alexander Stubb.
Prior to President Christodoulides’ arrival in the Republic of Finland, a business forum will be held in Helsinki with the participation of Cypriot and Finnish representatives of the shipping sector, with the aim of strengthening the Republic of Cyprus’ maritime diplomacy and promoting the Republic of Cyprus as a reliable international shipping hub. The forum will be attended by the Deputy Minister of Shipping of the Republic of Cyprus, Ms Marina Hadjimanolis, who will accompany the President throughout his visit.
This afternoon, the President of the Republic of Cyprus will have a meeting with the President of the Republic of Finland, in Helsinki. He will be accompanied by the Deputy Minister for European Affairs of the Republic of Cyprus, Ms Marilena Raouna, and the Government Spokesman of the Republic of Cyprus, Mr Konstantinos Letymbiotis. This will be followed by consultations in extended format between the two countries’ delegations.
Following the consultations, statements will be made to the media and a working dinner will be hosted by the Finnish President.
Later, President Christodoulides will lay a wreath on Marshal Mannerheim’s grave and pay tribute at the War Memorial for Finnish Peacekeepers in Hietaniemi Cemetery.
Tomorrow morning, President Christodoulides will visit the Finnish Parliament, where he will have successive meetings with the Speaker of the Parliament of the Republic of Finland, Mr Jussi Halla-aho, and the Prime Minister of the Republic of Finland, Mr Petteri Orpo.
During his talks in Helsinki, the President of the Republic of Cyprus will discuss issues of bilateral and European interest and the geopolitical developments in the Middle East. He will also present the planning and priorities of the Cyprus Presidency of the Council of the European Union in the first half of 2026.
The President of the Republic of Cyprus will return to Cyprus in the afternoon of 23 May 2025.
