We neither underestimate nor downgrade what was brought to light last night, said the President of the Republic, Mr Nikos Christodoulides.
In his statements to journalists, when asked if a team of investigators would be set up to investigate the information that was brought to light last night, the President of the Republic said: “The Cyprus Government and I personally neither underestimate nor downgrade everything that has come to light. And this is a clear message from the Government and me personally.
Already, investigations have begun, and, as I said yesterday, the investigations will be concluded within a given timeline. And I repeat what I said yesterday, no one, absolutely no one, is above the reputation and the credibility of our country.
People are reading the reports in the international press today, and I must tell you that this in not something that made me feel proud. So, we are neither underestimating nor downgrading the situation, neither the Government nor I personally.”
