Esteemed members of the Club of Venice,
Dear friends,

It is an honour to welcome you all to Cyprus for the Plenary Meeting of the Club of Venice, and a great pleasure to see you all again.

When the call came for Cyprus and the Press and Information Office to host the Meeting, we never gave it a second thought. Events, such as this, strengthen the bonds between communication professionals and their respective countries. They harbor open exchange of viewpoints, and give us the opportunity to broaden our horizons to ideas that may differ from our own.

There is an ancient Greek expression which says “I grow, always learning”.

Cyprus knows a thing or two about lessons and exchanges. Our country may be small, but it is geographically significant, sitting at the crossroads between three continents and numerous cultures and civilisations. The marks and traces of many conquerors are evident throughout this land, and these changed us and shaped us into the beautiful melting pot we have become today. With this in mind, I invite you to enjoy this journey of exchanging of ideas and lessons, through which we can all grow and learn.

Thank you so much for being here.
