Elections 2024 – Candidates representatives at polling stations
27/05/24 10:13 | Press release | Internal Affairs
The Chief Returning Officer announces that, in accordance with the provisions of the applicable electoral legislation, candidates may be present in person at the polling station during the voting and/or the sorting and counting of votes or may appoint a representative by completing the forms ΕΤΑΕΚ 16 and ΕΤΑΕΚ 17, respectively.
To this end, parties/independent candidates who wish to appoint a representative are invited to forward to the Returning Officer of the relevant electoral constituency in due time a specimen signature of the individual or individuals who will sign the aforementioned forms, which must be obtained in advance from the Office of the Chief Returning Officer. Otherwise, it will not be possible to be represented at the polling station.
It is clarified that, in view of the large number of elections and candidates, party lists participating in various electoral processes at a polling station will be allowed to have only one representative at the polling station at any given time. The representative of the party list may be replaced during the voting, as well as between the procedures of sorting and counting of votes for each type of election, by another individual who presents a duly completed authorisation, but may not be replaced while the process for an election is in progress.
