Travel Advice: Avoid non-essential travel

Validity of this Directive: From July 26 2024

Details:

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs advises Cypriot citizens intending to travel to Bangladesh that, due to the recent security situation and the imposition by the Government of Bangladesh on 19 July 2024 of a nationwide curfew following protests and violent clashes in the capital Dhaka, to avoid unnecessary travel in the country.

Cypriot citizens in the country are advised to avoid all gatherings and demonstrations, remain vigilant and follow the instructions of local authorities. It is also recommended that they closely follow the developments and information from the international and local media, avoid unnecessary movements and apply maximum security measures.

Details:

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs advices Cypriot citizens intending to travel to Bolivia to exercise a high degree of caution when travelling to the country due to safety and security concerns. This includes the threat of violent crime in various areas and the risk of social unrest. The country faces frequent demonstrations and strikes nationwide, including road blockades; some protests have turned violent.

Travel Advice: Avoid all travel

Validity of this Directive: From 31 January 2025

Details:

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Cyprus is closely monitoring the deterioration of the security situation at the border between the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Rwanda and emphasizes that the security situation in the region may further deteriorate without warning.

As a result, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs advises Cypriot citizens to avoid all travel to the Democratic Republic of the Congo, particularly to the border areas with Rwanda. Those currently in the country who wish to leave are encouraged to contact the Ministry of Foreign Affairs immediately and provide their details.

Additionally, Cypriot citizens are advised to avoid traveling to areas where hostilities are taking place, as well as all participations in gatherings and demonstrations (particularly in the capital, Kinshasa, DRC), and to remain vigilant. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs advices Cypriot citizens intending to travel to Peru to exercise increased caution due to safety and security concerns. This includes the threat of violent crime in various areas, and the ongoing state of emergency in Lima and Callao districts.

Cypriot citizens currently in Peru are advised to limit their movements, closely monitor the security situation, and avoid areas where demonstrations or large gatherings may occur. It is also recommended to stay informed through local and international media and to follow the instructions of the local authorities at all times.  

Cypriot citizens entering the Peru must ensure that their passport is properly stamped upon arrival. Failure to obtain an entry stamp may result in complications upon departure, including possible detention.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, due to the situation in the country, advises Cypriot citizens intending to travel to Sudan to avoid all travel to the country.

Cypriot citizens in the country are advised to remain vigilant, follow closely the developments and information from the international and local media, and apply maximum security measures.

Details:

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs advises Cypriot citizens to avoid all travel to South Sudan and encourages those currently in the country to leave as soon as possible. The security situation remains volatile and could deteriorate further, while the ability to provide consular assistance in case of serious unrest is very limited.

Cypriot citizens in South Sudan are advised to remain vigilant, follow closely the developments through international and local media, and take maximum security precautions.

Travel Advice: Avoid non-essential travel

Travel advice validity period: From 19 July 2022

Details:

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs advises against all non-essential travel to Sri Lanka due to the ongoing severe economic crisis, social unrest and shortages in basic goods, including food, fuel, and medicine. The security situation in Sri Lanka is unstable and violent incidents have occurred during recent demonstrations.

Cypriot citizens in Sri Lanka should follow the instructions of local authorities, carry with them at all times all relevant identification and travel documentation and inform themselves of any restrictions on movement put in place by closely following local media.

Protests, demonstrations and crowds must be avoided.

Cypriot citizens in Sri Lanka are urged to register with the online platform www.connect2cy.gov.cy and send their personal and contact details to the High Commission of Cyprus in New Delhi with a copy to the Honorary Consul of Cyprus in Sri Lanka in the following email addresses:

Details:

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs advises Cypriot citizens to exercise a high-degree of caution  due to the ongoing unrest and the imposition of curfew in country.

Cypriot citizens currently in Tanzania are advised to avoid areas where there are gatherings and demonstrations, remain vigilant and follow the instructions of local authorities. It is also recommended that they closely follow  developments and information from international and local media, avoid non-essential movements and exercise maximum caution.
