Written statement by the Government Spokesman, Mr Konstantinos Letymbiotis, on the incidents by the occupation forces in Pyla

The Government condemns the organized incidents perpetrated today, by the Turkish occupation forces in the buffer zone, in the area of Pyla, and the unacceptable attack against British and Slovak members of the Peacekeeping Force of the United Nations.

The threats and attacks against the UN peacekeepers are condemnable and constitute a serious crime according to international law, as it is rightly stated in the announcement issued by the Peacekeeping Force.

The Government is undertaking all diplomatic actions and is in continuous contact with the United Nations, with Permanent Members of the Security Council, the EU, the Greek Government, and the leadership of the Peacekeeping Force in Cyprus in order to prevent the Turkish plans.
