The Minister of Foreign Affairs travels to Toledo to attend the Informal Meeting of EU Foreign Affairs Ministers

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr Constantinos Kombos, travels to Toledo, where he will participate today and tomorrow (30-31 August) in the informal meeting of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the European Union (Gymnich). The meeting is hosted by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Spain, Mr Jones Manuel Albares Bueno, whose country holds the current six-month rotating presidency of the Council of the EU (01/07/2023 – 31/12/2023).
The Ministers will discuss the latest developments in Ukraine and will exchange views on the EU’s long-term security commitments, as well as on President Zelensky’s Peace Formula.
The situation in the Sahel region, focusing on the deteriorating situation in Niger, will also be on the agenda, with the Ministers exchanging views on the EU’s coordinated response in the areas of security and humanitarian aid.
Minister Kombos will brief his colleagues on the violation of the status quo in the area of Pyla within the buffer zone, as well as, the threats and acts of violence against UN peacekeepers.
On the sidelines of the meeting, Mr. Kombos will have various bilateral contacts with his counterparts.
