The Minister of Foreign Affairs paid a working visit to London on 15-16 June 2023

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr Constantinos Kombos, paid a two-day working visit to London.

During his visit, Minister Kombos met today with UK Foreign Secretary James Cleverly. During the meeting, the Minister of Foreign Affairs briefed his counterpart on President Christodoulides’ initiative for a more active role of the EU in the efforts to resume talks with the aim of finding a solution to the Cyprus problem. They also discussed issues relating to the Cyprus – United Kingdom bilateral relations, as well as in relation to developments in the Eastern Mediterranean region and international current affairs.

Dr Kombos subsequently met with Shadow Minister for Europe Stephen Doughty, while yesterday he had a meeting with the President of the All-Party Parliamentary Group for Cyprus, Sir Roger Gale. Discussions focused on the Cyprus problem, bilateral relations as well as international developments.

Yesterday afternoon, the Minister of Foreign Affairs also met with the leadership of the National Federation of Cypriots in the UK, with main topics of discussion the Cyprus problem and the support of the work of the Cypriot community in the UK.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs will return to Cyprus today.
