The High Commissioner of Cyprus to Tonga presents his credentials

Τhe High Commissioner of the Republic of Cyprus to the Kingdom of Tonga, based in Canberra, Mr Antonis Sammoutis, presented his credentials to His Majesty King Tupou VI of Tonga οn 20 June 2025.
The High Commissioner conveyed the greetings and best wishes of the President of the Republic of Cyprus, Mr Nikos Christodoulides, to the King and the people of Tonga. He referred to the bilateral relations and cooperation between the two island nations within the framework of the United Nations and the Commonwealth. He thanked the King for his country’s consistent stance on the Cyprus issue and informed on the efforts to restart negotiations. Finally, the High Commissioner reaffirmed Cyprus’ support to the Kingdom of Tonga, including the provision of scholarships through CyprusAid and the European Union, in sectors such as energy, infrastructure development, humanitarian aid, disaster response, and more.
King Tupou IV expressed his gratitude to the High Commissioner and reciprocated the greetings and well wishes to the President of the Republic of Cyprus. He praised the bilateral cooperation within international organisations and expressed his confidence that the relations between the two countries will continue to grow.
