The Ambassador of the Republic of Cyprus to the Republic of Uzbekistan presents his credentials

The Ambassador of the Republic of Cyprus to the Republic of Uzbekistan, Dr Kypros Giorgallis, presented on Wednesday, 24 April 2024, his credentials at a ceremony held in the capital Tashkent. The Letters of Credence and Recall were received, on behalf of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr Saidov Bakhtiyor Odilovich.
The Ambassador conveyed the warm greetings of the President of the Republic, Mr Nikos Christodoulides, and expressed his readiness and commitment to further strengthen the relations between the two countries and deepen their cooperation bilaterally, as well as within the European Union-Uzbekistan context.
The Foreign Minister reciprocated the warm wishes and conveyed the cordial greetings of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan to President Christodoulides. At the same time, he congratulated Ambassador Giorgallis for his appointment and wished him a fruitful and successful posting.
During a meeting following the official ceremony, the Foreign Minister briefed Ambassador Giorgallis on Uzbekistan’s foreign policy priorities and referred to the prospects of further developing his country’s relations with the Republic of Cyprus on both bilateral and multilateral levels.
During his stay in Tashkent, Ambassador Giorgallis held a number of meetings during which he briefed his counterparts on the latest developments regarding the Cyprus question, as well as efforts of upgrading the status of the secessionist entity in the context of the Organisation of Turkic States and the Organisation of Islamic Conference, in violation of international legality. Furthermore, Ambassador Giorgallis exchanged views as regards the bilateral relations between the two countries with the aim of advancing cooperation in sectors of priority, such as education, tourism and political consultations, between the respective Ministries of Foreign Affairs.
