The new Ambassador of the Republic of Cyprus to the Republic of Lithuania (with Residence in Warsaw), Mr Nicos P. Nicolaou, presented his credentials, on 20 May 2025, to the President of the Republic of Lithuania, Mr Gitanas Nausėda.

Ambassador Nicolaou conveyed the warm greetings of the President of the Republic of Cyprus, Mr Nikos Christodoulides, and expressed his strong willingness to work for the further enhancement of the bilateral relations between the Republic of Cyprus and the Republic of Lithuania.

The Ambassador underlined the excellent relations between the two countries and the historic landmark of simultaneous accession of the Republic of Cyprus and the Republic of Lithuania to the European Union (EU) in 2004, as a new starting point for closer relations between the two countries.

Ambassador Nicolaou pointed out that today, the Republic of Cyprus and the Republic of Lithuania have close cooperation in the EU, while noting that President Christodoulides intends to visit the Republic of Lithuania, in light of the forthcoming Cyprus Presidency of the Council of the EU in the first half of 2026.
