The Ambassador of the Republic of Cyprus to the Laos People’s Democratic Republic presented her credentials

The Ambassador of the Republic of Cyprus to the Laos People’s Democratic Republic, Ms Martha A. Mavrommatis, presented her credentials to President Thongloun Sisoulith, at a ceremony held on 28 September 2023, at the Presidential Palace in Vientiane.

In a meeting that followed between Ambassador Mavrommatis and President Sisoulith, the Ambassador conveyed to the President the cordial greetings of the President of the Republic, Mr Nikos Christodoulides, and expressed her readiness and commitment to further strengthen and enhance the ties between the two countries. Ambassador Mavrommatis briefed President Sisoulith on the latest developments in the Cyprus question and President Christodoulides’ initiative for the restart of the negotiations.

The President of the Laos People’s Democratic Republic reciprocated the warm greetings of President Christodoulides and underlined his country’s commitment for the further enhancement of the economic, trade and tourism cooperation between the two countries.  At the same time, he expressed the support of the Laos People’s Democratic Republic to the efforts to reach a solution of the Cyprus question, on the basis of the relevant UN resolutions.
