The Ambassador of Cyprus to Iceland presents his credentials

The new Ambassador of the Republic of Cyprus to Iceland, with residence in Copenhagen, Mr Iacovos Giragosian, presented his credentials to the President of Iceland, Mr Guðni Thorlacius Jóhannesson, during an official ceremony held on 7 May 2024 at Bessastaðir, the Presidential Residence.
During the private audience that followed, Ambassador Giragosian conveyed to President Jóhannesson the warm greetings of the President of the Republic, Mr Nikos Christodoulides, and expressed his commitment to work towards strengthening the already excellent relations and cooperation between the two countries, both bilaterally and within the framework of the European Economic Area.
The Cypriot Ambassador also briefed President Jóhannesson on the latest developments in the Cyprus problem, and the ongoing efforts of the Government of Cyprus to find a just and viable solution.
Welcoming the new Ambassador, President Jóhannesson referred to the historically excellent relations between the two countries. In this context, he underlined his commitment for the continuation of cooperation between the two island states and reiterated Iceland’s support in the efforts to find a just and viable solution to the Cyprus problem.
