The Ambassador of Cyprus to Austria presented his credentials

The new Ambassador of the Republic of Cyprus to the Republic of Austria, Andreas Ignatiou, presented his credentials to the Federal President of the Republic Austria, Dr Alexander Van der Bellen, during an official ceremony, which took place in the Hofburg Palace in Vienna on 20 February 2024.
Presenting his credentials, Ambassador Ignatiou conveyed to President Van der Bellen the warm greetings of the President of the Republic of Cyprus, Mr Nikos Christodoulides, and extended an invitation on behalf of President Christodoulides to visit Cyprus.
During a brief conversation, which followed, Ambassador Ignatiou pledged to work for further strengthening the already friendly relations between the two countries. He also thanked President Van der Bellen for Austria’s steadfast support to the efforts for a solution to the Cyprus question, and for the country’s longstanding presence in the Peacekeeping Force of the United Nations in Cyprus (UNFICYP).
President Van der Bellen welcomed the new Ambassador, wishing him every success in the exercise of his duties, while underlining the readiness of Austria to further deepening the already excellent bilateral relations.
