Cyprus welcomes the recent inclusion of Odessa (Ukraine), Maarib (Yemen) and the Tripoli International Exhibition on the UNESCO World Heritage List and the UNESCO List of World Heritage in Danger.

This development, which highlights the unique architectural and historical value of the three sites to humanity, will allow them to be protected to the strictest international standards and help them benefit from UNESCO’s conservation and restoration policies.

It is recalled that the history of the emblematic city of Odessa, which is at risk due to the war in Ukraine, is directly linked to the history of Hellenism, since it was the starting point of the Greek Revolution of 1821.
