The Minister of Health, Mr Constantinos Ioannou, departs for Brussels to participate at the extraordinary EU Council of Ministers of Health

The Minister of Health, Mr Constantinos Ioannou, departs today for Brussels, to participate to the extraordinary meeting of the EU Employment, Social Policy, Health and Consumer Affairs Council (Health) to be held on Thursday, 13 February 2020. The deliberations of the Council will focus on the developments regarding the novel coronavirus.
During the meeting, the EU Ministers will review the so far data on the virus, while they will thoroughly discuss the measures implemented by the member states in national level to prevent the spread of the outbreak within the EU. Also, the Ministers of Health will focus on the protocols adopted by the EU countries, and concern the handling of a suspected or confirmed case, based on the directives of the World Health Organization and the European Center for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC).
Finally, the EU Health Ministers will examine ways to intensify screening and better coordinate amongst the member states.
