Results of the First Assignment
On 16 and 17 of January 2025, the First Assignment of the National Phase of the European Statistics Competition was held for Gymnasiums and Lyceums respectively, at the premises of the University of Cyprus. Four hundred sixty-two secondary education students from all over Cyprus formed 164 teams 164 and participated in the competition.
The co-organisers (Statistical Service of Cyprus, Ministry of Education, Sports and Youth, University of Cyprus and Cyprus Statistical Society) would like to congratulate all the teams for their participation and effort.
The First Assignment included three tests as follows:
a. Basic statistical knowledge test
b. Use of official statistical data sources test
c. Interpretation of statistical reports test
The top 11 teams (due to a 2-team tie for the 10th place) with the highest score in the lower secondary education category and the top ten teams in the upper secondary education category qualify to the Second Assignment, in which they have to prepare a statistical data analysis presentation.
For the lower secondary education category, the average score for the three tests in total is 35.1% and the median value is 36.0%, while the highest score is 75.0%. Correspondingly, for the upper secondary education category, the average score is 24.1%, the median value 23.0% and the highest score is 59.0%.
The teams in each category that proceed to the Second Assignment are presented below in alphabetical order.
