Open call for dancers to participate in the Opening Ceremony of the Cyprus Presidency of the Council of the EU 2026

The Deputy Ministry of Culture announces an open call for professional dancers, aged 20 to 40, who are graduates of contemporary dance schools, to express their interest in participating in the Opening Ceremony of the Cyprus Presidency of the Council of the European Union (EU) 2026.
A total of twelve dancers will be selected through an audition. Selected dancers must demonstrate excellent contemporary dance technique and a high level of physical fitness, and must be available to reside in Cyprus from 3 November 2025 to 7 January 2026.
Director Kostas Silvestros has been appointed as artistic director of the Ceremony.
Applicants are invited to submit electronically:
- A short CV (PDF format, maximum two pages long);
- Two high-resolution photographs, one headshot and one full body (JPEG or PNG format);
- A link (preferably from YouTube or Vimeo) to a video of recent work, up to three minutes in length. The video should be of high quality, without filters or speed adjustments, and must clearly show the dancer’s performance.
Deadline for applications: 31 July 2025. Late or incomplete submissions will not be accepted. Applications must be sent exclusively via email to: apapapetrou@culture.gov.cy, with the subject line: “Dancer Auditions –Opening Ceremony of the Cyprus Presidency of the Council of the EU 2026”.

Auditions will be held in person in Lefkosia on 4 August 2025. Applicants who meet the criteria will be notified of the exact location and time of the audition.
