Translation and Consolidation of the Constitution of the Republic of Cyprus

The Office of the Law Commissioner announces its new publication concerning the translation of the Constitution of the Republic of Cyprus into the English language, which also includes the 19th Amendment of the Constitution.
The translation is available on the Office’s website, under the “Legislation” section.
This publication provides a comprehensive, consolidated text of the Constitution of the Republic of Cyprus in the English language, encompassing its provisions from the date it came into operation on 16 August 1960 to its most recent amendment as of 31 December 2024.
The English translation of the Constitution presented in this publication is based on the text of the draft Constitution, presented to the Parliament of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland by the Secretary of State for the Colonies, the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs and the Minister of Defence by Command of Her Majesty in July 1960 (Cmnd. 1093).
The publication provides an English translation and consolidation of the 1960 Constitution of the Republic of Cyprus, as amended, by Laws 95 of 1989, 106(Ι) of 1996, 115(I) of 1996, 104(Ι) of 2002, 127(Ι) of 2006, 51(Ι) of 2010, 68(Ι) of 2013, 130(Ι) of 2015, 69(Ι) of 2016, 93(Ι) of 2016, 100(Ι) of 2019, 128 (Ι) of 2019, 160(Ι) of 2019, 161 (Ι) of 2019, 135(Ι) of 2020, 67(Ι) of 2022, 103(Ι) of 2022 , 3(Ι) of 2023 and 171(I) of 2024, enacted in Greek until the 31st December 2024.
This publication aims to serve as a useful tool for anyone interested in the Constitution of the Republic of Cyprus and contributes to enhancing the accessibility of the Cypriot legal system, facilitating its study and understanding by the international academic and legal community.
