05/05/25 11:49 | Press release | Commissioners
The Office of the Law Commissioner of the Republic of Cyprus is pleased to announce the acceptance of its application for membership in the international organisation Commonwealth Association of Law Reform Agencies (CALRAs), following the approval of the organisation’s Executive Committee.
This marks the Office’s first official participation in an international law reform institution since its establishment.
The Office’s membership in CALRAs is a significant step in its ongoing efforts to strengthen international cooperation and exchange of expertise in the field of law reform. Through this membership, the Office gains access to best practices, innovative approaches, and a broad network of collaboration with counterpart institutions across the Commonwealth.
This development follows the Office’s first participation in CALRAs’ annual conference, held on April 4–5, 2025, in Malta, which underscored the members’ shared approach to the challenges and developments in law reform and legislative review.
The Office extends its warm thanks to CALRAs Secretary General, Mr Malcolm McMillan, and the members of the Executive Committee for their trust and support.
This institutional collaboration enhances the international profile of the Office and expands its ability to form strategic partnerships with reputable organisations. The goal is to upgrade the legislative work of the Republic of Cyprus by leveraging best practices, partnerships, and international experience.
