The Family Intervention and Support Center for Autism was approved by decision of the Council of Ministers dated 6.5.2019 as a co-financed Project. The Project is implemented within the framework of the Cohesion Policy Program “THALIA 2021-2027” with the co-financing of the EU.
In August 2021, following a Public Tender the Department for Social Inclusion of Persons with Disabilities, as the Contracting Authority, signed a public agreement with a Joint Venture for the Organization and Operation of the Center.
The Center “AKTIdA”, operated in October 2021 in renovated and independent facilities at the Christos Stelios Ioannou Foundation building complex, providing its services all over Cyprus. The Center’s mission is to provide specialized services to preschool aged children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorders, as well as to their families. The Services consist of the following:
(a) Psychological Support, Counseling and Psychoeducation Service
(b) Home Education and Support Service for the family and the child in the context of early childhood intervention specifically focused on children with Autism Spectrum Disorders
(c) Social Support Service
Each Service is provided by appropriately trained and specialized personnel with the corresponding specialty.
Τhe Center collaborates with a similar model organization abroad, for appropriate supervision, training and guidance.
