Social Benefits

The sector manages a total of two laws and four schemes for monthly benefits, three schemes for one-time financial assistance and one law and three schemes for benefits without financial cost. In total, in 2024, the beneficiaries were 14,205, corresponding to approximately 15,000 people (number of beneficiaries receiving more than one social benefit), with a total expenditure of €53.8 million.

In the context of the policy of the Deputy Ministry of Social Welfare for the preparation of a new legislation on social benefits and services for people with disabilities, which will introduce new services such as Decision Support Counsellor, Decision Support Trainer, Personal Work Assistant, etc. as well as decouple disability benefits from the legislation of the Minimum Guaranteed Income (MGI or EEE), the TKEAA updated and submitted proposals to the Deputy Ministry for the new policy and legislation, and participated in a special working group in the Administration of the Deputy Ministry, with the participation of the representatives of KYSOA. It also updated and submitted to the Deputy Ministry the proposal for the implementation of the project “New Network of Social Inclusion Services for Persons with Disabilities” included in the Cohesion Policy Programme THALEIA 2021-2027, to be implemented by TKEAA, with a budget of €30 million.
