Rotating Presidency
The Republic of Cyprus will hold the Presidency of the Council of the European Union in the first half of 2026, for the second time, fourteen years after its first Presidency in 2012.
Trio Presidency
Member states holding the Presidency work together closely in groups of three, called ‘trios’ for an 18-month period. This system was introduced by the Lisbon Treaty in 2009.
Trio Programme
The Republic of Cyprus in collaboration with its partners, Poland, and Denmark, in the Trio Presidency, have drafted the 18-month programme and priorities of the Trio of Presidencies of Poland, Denmark, and Cyprus.
